I recently found out that the band that is basically responsible for my discovering the genre of Metal - Nightwish - has a new singer (as well as another new band member who plays assorted woodwinds, like uilleann pipes and tin whistles, which is awesome all by itself ^^). Again. I liked the previous one, Anette, sort of. She was different, not bad but it didn't quite fit in my opinion. Now I wasn't really sure what to expect this time around. I read that she already sang as a sort of substitute on their last tour, so I decided to finally check it out now that she's official, and I found this video of her doing a song from the Album Once (incidentially my first ever Metal album ... heh) - Ghost Love Score. (You can find it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3brcft… )

Well, to make it short ... it fucking blew me away. I haven't really been listening to the band a lot these past years, since they went away more and more from the "old stuff", but holy hell that's a comeback right there ... I daresay that Floor surpassed Tarja's original version (not to mention her live versions ... ) by a substantial margin.
Especially the end of the song in this particular video ... I am at a loss for words. And somehow, I just *had* to paint it.

Nothing fancy, really, it's basically a sort of screencap study (although not really because I wanted to give it a painterly look still), and took me maybe 3-4 hours. I could probably go nuts on the details a lot more, but I like it as it is. Even though I decided to skip some of the outfit details (I really was in no mood to paint all those pesky small little thingies, see the video to see what I mean ^^).

Knowing her other bands and knowing what she's capable for makes me more than excited for the next album of the Finnish primadonnas (no offence, just all the scandals around them make me sick)

Great job and try to find her previous efforts and listen Ayreon's Liquid Eternity (there she has mindblowing duet with Jorn Lande) and you'll me more than Floored :D
